Root Canal Treatment

Treatment to save a damaged or infected tooth and relieve pain.

Root canal treatment (endodontics) saves a tooth that has become badly decayed or infected deep inside, where the nerve and blood supply sit. Rather than removing the tooth, the treatment clears the infection and seals the tooth so you can keep it.

When the soft tissue inside a tooth becomes infected it can cause significant pain and, left untreated, lead to an abscess. Treating it promptly relieves the pain and protects the surrounding teeth and gums.

Carried out under local anaesthetic, modern root canal treatment is generally no more uncomfortable than having a filling. We carefully clean and disinfect the inside of the tooth, then fill and seal it, and in many cases we'll recommend a crown afterwards to give the tooth extra strength.

We'll give you clear aftercare advice, and with good care a treated tooth can last for many years.
